Indications: 1) test functional significance of renal artery stenosis 2) *unilateral renal parenchymal disease as etiology of hypertension 3) test presence of renin-secreting renal neoplasm Notes: -> a positive test is indicated by renin-activity of 1.5 times the contralateral side -> in some patients, effect may only be apparent after administration of furosemide
