rehabilitation unit

A distinct part of an acute care hospital that is organized & staffed to provide intense & comprehensive inpatient rehabilitation. Characteristics: 1) DRG exempt 2) acute hospital license 3) >= 3 hrs of skilled rehabilitation therapy/day vs 1-3 hours/day for subacute care 4) 75% of population must come from a list of 10 DRGs 5) higher cost than subacute rehabilitation
