Indications: - growth hormone deficiency in the elderly - may have beneficial effect on some cognitive measures in both normal elderly and those with amnestic MCI (mild cognitive impairment) [3] Dosage: 14 ug/kg SC QHS (long-acting GHRH) Monitor: IGF-1 Adverse effects: 1) increased prolactin 2) increased ACTH Mechanism of action: 1) induces growth hormone release from pitituary somatotrophs 2) less effective than growth hormone 3) probably safe 4) may have beneficial effect on cognitive function Notes: - cost 2012: $50/injection
