Function: - formation of epithelial tight junctions - could participate in polarized transport, in the assembly &/or the activity of tight junctions Structure: belongs to the small GTPase superfamily, Rab family Compartment: - cell junction, tight junction - cell membrane; lipid-anchor; cytoplasmic side - cytoplasmic vesicle membrane; lipid-anchor; cytoplasmic side - cytoplasmic tight junctions or associated with vesicles scattered throughout the cytoplasm in cells lacking tight junctions Expression: - detected in several types of epithelia, including intestine, kidney, liver & in endothelial cells
