North Queensland tick typhus

Etiology: Rickettsia australis Epidemiology: 1) endemic in Australia 2) transmitted by ticks Clinical manifestations: 1) maculopapular skin eruption (rarely vesicular & petechial) 2) eschar at site of tick bite 3) eruption on proximal extremities, spreading to face & trunk 3) headaches 4) myalgias 5) regional adenopathy Management: see Rocky Mountain spotted fever
