pyrantel (Antiminth)

Tradename: Antiminth. (pyrantel pamoate) Indications: - intestinal nematodes (helminth infection) - Ancylostoma duodenale - uncinariasis - Necator americanus - Ascaris lumbricoides - Enterobius vermicularis - Trichostrongyloidiasis - moniliformis [4] Contraindications: - avoid during pregnancy Dosage: - pinworms & roundworms: 11 mg/kg up to 1 g PO single dose Suspension: 50 mg/mL. Mechanism of action: - acts by inducing neuromuscular paralysis in the nematode which allows the host to expell them
