Purkinje cell cytoplasmic antibody (PCCA) type 1

Includes: - YO-specific PCCA recognizing a 52 kD protein identified by western blot Etiology: 1) paraneoplastic cerebellar degeneration 2) neoplasms associated with YO-specific PCCA include: a) breast cancer b) ovarian cancer, fallopian tube cancer, endometrial cancer c) less commonly small cell lung carcinoma, Hodgkin's disease Clinical significance: 1) YO-specific PCCA present in 50% of patients with paraneoplastic cerebellar degeneration 2) neoplasms associated with YO-specific PCCA include: a) breast cancer b) ovarian cancer 3) clinical significance of PCCA not associated with YO-specific PCCA is unknown Methods: immunofluorescence
