Etiology: - associated with patent ductus arteriosis - may occur with ventricular septal defect Pathology: - atresia of the pulmonic valve Clinical manifestations: - cyanosis - tachypnea - fatigue - feeding difficulty - dyspnea Special laboratory: - electrocardiogram - echocardiogram - pulse oximetry - cardiac catheterization Complications: - growth retardation - seizures - stroke - endocarditis - heart failure - death Management: - prostaglandin E1 maintains a patent ductus arterosis - surgical correction
