A slowing of thought with reduction in motor activity
Etiology:
- major depression
- schizophrenia
- Parkinson's disease
- chronic traumatic encephalopathy
- adverse drug effects
- benzodiazepines
- toxicity
- veisalgia (alcoholic hangover)
Clinical manifestations:
- visible slowing of physical & emotional reactions, including speech & affect
- impairment of activities of daily living
