Downward movement of the uterus due to laxity & atony of the muscular & fascial structures of the pelvic floor.
- May occur from injuries of childbirth or advanced age.
Classification:
1) 1st degree prolapse
- The cervix is at or near the introitus
2) 2nd degree prolapse
2) 3rd degree prolapse (procidentia uteri)
- cervix protrudes well beyond the vaginal orifice
Management:
