preoperative chest X-ray

Indications: - pre-operative evaluation* a) intrathoracic procedure b) history of cardiovascular disease c) history of pulmonary disease d) no longer indicated for smokers without cardiopulmonary disease [3] - current smoker with > 20 pack-year history - current smoker > 50 years of age e) history of prior malignancy * patients with chest radiograph within 6 months of planned procedure need not have it repeated unless clinically indicated
