posterior tibial artery
The larger of the two terminal branches of the popliteal artery.
Branches:
1) peroneal artery
2) lateral & medial posterior malleolar artery
3) lateral & medial plantar artery
Physical examination:
The posterior tibial pulse should be palpable posterior to the medial malleolus.
