Indications:
- adjunctive therapy in edema associated with
a) congestive heart failure
b) hepatic cirrhosis
c) other causes of edema
- treatment of hypertension
Dosage:
- 1-4 mg PO QD
Adverse effects:
- GI
- anorexia
- gastric irritation
- nausea/vomiting
- cramping
- diarrhea
- constipation
- jaundice (intrahepatic cholestatic jaundice)
- pancreatitis
- CNS
- dizziness, vertigo
- paresthesias
- headache
- xanthopsia
- hematology
- leukopenia
- agranulocytosis
- thrombocytopenia
- aplastic anemia
- dermatology/hypersensitivity reactions
- purpura
- photosensitivity
- rash
- urticaria
- necrotizing angiitis (vasculitis) (cutaneous vasculitis)
- cardiovascular
- orthostatic hypotension
- other
- hyperglycemia
- glycosuria
- hyperuricemia
- muscle spasm
- weakness
