Indications:
- screening for primary hyperaldosteronism in conjunction with plasma aldosterone [2]
Contraindications:
- do not use to stratify patients with hypertension
- do nor use to predict response to specific antihypertensives [2]
Reference interval:
- 3.3-41 UIU/mL [4]
- 0.2-3.2 ng/mL/hour [3]
- 2.9-24 ng/mL/hour [5

- hemorrhage
- hypokalemia
- renin-producing neoplasm
Decreases:
- vasopressin therapy
- salt-retaining steroid therapy
- salt-sensitive essential hypertension
- primary hyperaldosteronism
Test interactions:
- decreases (false positives for primary hyperaldosteronism)
- alpha-adrenergic receptor agonists
- beta-adrenergic receptor antagonists
- direct renin inhibitors
- NSAIDs
- increases (false negatives for primary hyperaldosteronism)
