plane xanthoma

Etiology: - multiple myeloma, paraproteinemia, leukemia, lymphoma - diffuse (neck, face, upper trunk, arms) - homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia - intertriginous areas - dysbetalipoproteinemia - palmar xanthomas Clinical manifestations: - flat, yellow plaques - most commonly involve skin folds - - image of palmar xanthomas [2] Laboratory: - lipid panel a) may be normal with diffuse form associated with lymphoid neoplasm b) LDL cholesterol elevated with dyslipidemia c) serum triglycerides may be elevated with dysbetalipoproteinemia
