pitolisant (Wakix)

Indications: - treatment of narcolepsy* * only nonscheduled treatment option FDA-approved for adult patients with narcolepsy Contraindications: - severe liver disease or ESRD - risk of QT prolongation Dosage: - QAM upon awakening Adverse effects: - insomnia (6%) - nausea (6%) - anxiety (5%). Mechanism of action: - increases synthesis & release of histamine, a wake-promoting neurotransmitter in the brain
