Pharmacokinetics: -> crosses blood-brain barrier [3] Adverse effects: 1) increased serum transaminases (not hepatotoxic) 2) insomnia [3] Drug interactions: -> phenothiazines & cimetidine may increase plasma levels of pindolol Laboratory: 1) specimen: serum, plasma (EDTA, heparin) 2) methods: fluorometry, GLC, HPLC Mechanism of action: 1) beta-1, beta-2 adrenergic receptor antagonist 2) intrinsic sympathomimetic activity
