A level of muscle & cardiovascular function that results in increased energy reserves, enhanced performance & well being. Notes: - physical fitness associated with diminished mortality regardless of body mass index (BMI) - physical fitness in midlife associated with reduced risk of lung cancer & colorectal cancer after age 65 (RR=0.5) [3] - moderate & high cardiorespiratory fitness are associated with a lower risk of colon cancer [4] - high cardiorespiratory fitness is associated with lower risk of death due to lung cancer [4] - low, moderate, & high CRF are associated with lower risk of death due to prostate cancer [4] - physical fitness in midlife is not associated with reduced risk of prostate cancer
