Structure: - the form of tau found in paired helical filaments - PHF-tau is a dimer with polypeptide chains antiparallel in orientation - the polypeptides are hyperphosphorylated & covalently linked through disulfide bonds in their microtubule binding domains - the PHF tau oligomerized to for neuropil threads * see figure
