hematopoietic prostaglandin D synthase; H-PGDS; GST class-sigma; glutathione S-transferase; glutathione-dependent PGD synthase; glutathione-requiring prostaglandin D synthase; prostaglandin-H2 D-isomerase (HPGDS, GSTS, PGDS, PTGDS2)
Supertype dehydrogenase used by analogy to PGF synthase.
Function:
- catalyzes conversion of PGH2 to PGD2 (glutathione-dependent)
- role in smooth muscle contraction & relaxation
- inhibits platelet aggregation.
- role in expression of PGD & PDJ in hematopoietic cells.
Expression:
- expressed in megakaryocytes, but not platelets
- expressed in placenta
