Edema around the orbit of the eye. Etiology: 1) hypertensive kidney disease [3] 2) orbital cellulitis vs orbital abscess 3) thyroid disorders a) hyperthyroidism (Graves' disease) b) hypothyroidism 4) dermatomyositis 5) sinusitis 6) helminth infection a) Dracunculus medinensis (Guinea worm) b) trichinosis 7) relapsing polychondritis 8) neoplasm - Kaposi's sarcoma 9) proteinuria (also peripheral edema) 10) pharmaceutical agents a) cabergoline b) lypressin Clinical manifestations: - proptosis, ophthalmoplegia & pain with extraocular muscle present in ~50% of children with orbital abscess [2] Radiology: - computed tomography of the orbit

General

orbital disease edema (swelling, tumefaction, tumescence)
