perindopril (Aceon, Coversyl)

Tradename: Aceon. Indications: - hypertension - heart failure - diabetic nephropathy, nondiabetic proteinuric nephropathy - atherosclerosis [2] - myocardial infarction Dosage: 1) usual dose is 4-8 mg PO QD 2) higher doses are not much more effective Tabs: 2, 4 & 8 mg. Mechanism of action: 1) see ACE inhibitor 2) may prevent progression of atherosclerosis (8 mg/day) [2] -> treating 50 patients for 4 years seems to prevent 1 major cardiovascular event [2] Clinical trials: - EUROPA trial
