Applies to both pregnant women & those who have given birth in the past year. [2] Etiology: - risk factors - history of depression & anxiety during adolescence or young adulthood [1] Complications: - long-term suicide risk [3] - increased risk of mortality [3] Management: - counseling to women with a history of depression, current depressive symptoms that are below the diagnostic threshold, or socioeconomic risk factors suc as low income or being young or single [2] - see depression during pregnancy & postpartum depression
