The organ of copulation in the male. It is formed from 3 columns of erectile tissue. The 2 dorsolateral columns comprise the corpora cavernosum & the ventromedial column is the corpus spongiosum. The urethra traverses the corpus spongiosum. The glans penis is formed by expansion of the corpus spongiosum. The prepuce is a free fold of skin covering the glans.
