Function: 1) role in the heart development by scaffolding PKC to Z-disk region 2) interacts with various PKC isoforms via LIM domains 3) interacts with actin & alpha-actinin via PDZ domain Structure: - contains 3 LIM zinc-binding domains - contains 1 PDZ domain (DHR domain) Expression: heart & skeletal muscle specific Pathology: - role in genetic susceptibility to schizophrenia - PDLIM5 is commonly increased in the brain of patients with bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, & major depression
