resting tremor

Etiology: - parkinsonism - Parkinson's disease - drug-induced tremor* - vascular parkinsonism - dystonia [2] * most drug-induced tremors are action tremors Clinical manifestations: 1) most evident at rest 2) attenuated or absent during voluntary actions 3) tremor of parkinsonism a) alternating supination & pronation (pin rolling) b) may be asymmetric c) extremities generally affected d) head & neck generally spared Management: 1) discontinue or decrease dose of offending medications 2) Parkinson's disease: standard treatment protocol
