Etiology: - component of Shone complex Pathology: - mitral valve leaflets appear as the canopy of the parachute - the chordae as the strings - the papillary muscle as the harness - chordae insert into only one of two papillary muscles - chordae are short & thick leading to - restricted movement of the mitral valve leaflets - obstruction of blood flow into the left ventricle
