Etiology: - association with monoclonal gammopathy, paraproteinemia - generally IgG lambda - multiple myeloma - AL amyloidosis [1] Epidemiology: - more common in men than women Pathology: - skin biopsy - mucin deposition - stellate fibrobasts in dermis (fibroblast proliferation) - collagen deposition - involves a) nervous system b) gastrointestinal system c) cardiovascular system * histopathology images [2] Clinical manifestations: - waxy, yellow-red papules over thickened skin (induration) of face, upper trunk, neck & arms * images [2,3] Laboratory: 1) see monoclonal gammopathy a) serum protein electrophoresis b) urine protein electrophoresis c) immunofixation electrophoresis shows IgG lambda 2) skin biopsy
