pancreatitis

Inflammation of the pancreas, acute or chronic. Differentiation is based upon clinical criteria. In acute pancreatitis, normal pancreatic function is restored after the inflammation subsides. In chronic pancreatitis, there is a permanent loss of function & pain may persist.
