pancreatitis

- Inflammation of the pancreas, acute or chronic - differentiation is based upon clinical criteria - multiple episodes of pancreatitis indicate chronic pancreatitis - recurrent alcohol-associated pancreatitis - in acute pancreatitis, normalpancreatic function is restored after the inflammation subsides. - in chronic pancreatitis, there is a permanent loss of function & pain may persist.
