alpha-2-macroglobulin receptor-associated protein; alpha-2-MRAP; low density lipoprotein receptor-related protein-associated protein 1; RAP; p39RAP (LRPAP1, A2MRAP)

Function: - interacts with LRP1/alpha-2-macroglobulin receptor & glycoprotein 330 - present on cell surface forming a complex with LRP1 heavy & light chains - binds LRP1B - binding is followed by internalization & degradation - may serve as a chaperone for the LRP1 - p39rap modifies (inhibits) binding of ligands to the 515 KD subunit of LRP Structure: - N-glycosylated - belongs to the alpha-2-MRAP family Compartment: - endoplasmic reticulum. cytoplasm, cell surface - intracellular & associated with cell surface receptors - found in the endoplasmic reticulum Pathology: - in complex with the alpha-2-MR or gp330, it may have some role in the pathogenesis of membranous glomerulonephritis
