Epidemiology: - females - rare or underdiagnosed Pathology: - a dilated ovarian vein compresses the ureter - the right ovarian vein is most commonly involved Clinical manifestations: - colicky abdominal pain, back pain &/or pelvic pain - the pain can worsen when supine or between ovulation & menstruation Radiology: - pelvic ultrasound - pelvic CT angiography Complications: - urinary tract infection, pyelonephritis Management: - analgesia - surgical ablation of the dilated vein
