Clinical manifestations: - joint pain - no pain at rest [1] - little or no joint swelling or joint effusion - no or poor response to glucocorticoids Radiology: - X-ray of foot - non uniform narrowing or 1st metatarsophalangeal joint space - hypertrophic bone formation Differential diagnosis: - gout - fracture Management: - see osteoarthritis & osteoarthritis of the hand
