Dyspnea experienced when in the supine or prone position. Etiology: 1) left ventricular failure 2) mitral stenosis 3) obstructive lung disease a) chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) b) asthma 4) bilateral diaphragmatic paralysis or paresis 5) sleep apnea 6) severe gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)
