Function: - addition of nucleotide-activated sugars directly onto polypeptide through O-glycosidic linkage with the hydroxyl of Ser or Thr - mediates O-glycosylation of MLL5 - protein modification; protein glycosylation - heterotrimer of two 110 kD & one 70 kD subunits - unknown if the 70 kD subunit is encoded by a separate gene or is the product of either of a proteolytic degradation or an alternative initiation of the 110 kD subunit (putative) - interacts with ATXN10 (putative) - component of the MLL5-L complex - interacts with HCFC1 Structure: - belongs to the O-GlcNAc transferase family - contains 13 TPR repeats Compartment: cytoplasm (putative), nucleus Alternative splicing: named isoforms=3 Expression: - highly expressed in pancreas - lower expression in skeletal muscle, heart, brain & placenta - present in trace amounts in lung & liver
