Classification: 1) class 1 a) uncompromised b) good prognosis 2) class 2 a) slight limitation in physical activity b) prognosis good with therapy 3) class 3: - moderate-marked limitation in physical activity - 3A: symptoms less with ordinary activity - 3B: symptoms with minimal exertion - prognosis fair with therapy 4) class 4 a) severely compromised b) unable to perform any physical activity without symptoms c) prognosis guarded despite therapy d) a hospice qualifying diagnosis if optimally medically managed
