NPXY motif or coated-pit internalization signal

Asn-Pro-X-Tyr where X may be one of several amino acid residues Required for coated-pit internalization of receptor. It is thought to interact with adaptin/clathrin complex. The transcription factor Fe65 binds to the NPTY motif in the cytoplasmic domain of the amyloid precursor protein [3].
