Clinical manifestations:
1) symptoms variable
2) facial palsy
3) muscle weakness & wasting
4) numbness
5) excessive thirst
6) fatigue
7) headache
8) seizures
9) lethargy
10) fever
11) memory loss
12) hallucinations
13) irritability
14) agitation
15) depression
16) loss of taste
17) loss of voice
18) hearing impairment
19) visual impairment
Management:
1) no cure
2) corticosteroids or immunosuppressive drugs may relieve symptoms in selected patients.
3) prognosis
a) variable
b) most patients respond to treatment
c) symptoms may resolve after a few months
d) slowly progressive in many patients
e) complications may be fatal in a few %
