Structure: - contain paired helical filaments with hyperphosphorylated (PHF) tau Pathology: - occur in axons & dendrites - seen in - Alzheimer's disease - most prominant in select subfields & layers of ventromedial temporal lobe & association cortex - corticobasal degeneration - progressive supranuclear palsy - frontotemporal dementia with parkinsonism
