muscle atrophy resulting from denervation; affected fibers are small, angulated & tend to be clustered.
Etiology:
- brachial plexus compromise may result in muscle atrophy of the ipsilateral hand
- pancoast tumor (NSCLC) [1]
Radiology:
- chest X-ray if brachial plexus involvement suspected
