Function: - neuronal cell surface protein - may be involved in cell recognition & cell adhesion - may mediate intracellular signaling - specific isoforms bind to alpha-dystroglycan & to alpha-latroxin - cytoplasmic C-terminal region binds to CASK, CASKIN1 & APBA1 - interacts with SYT13 & SYTL1 (putative) Structure: - N-glycosylated & O-glycosylated (putative) - the laminin G-like domain 2 binds to NXPH1 - belongs to the neurexin family - contains 3 EGF-like domains - contains 6 laminin G-like domains Compartment: membrane Alternative promoter: yes Alternative splicing: named isoforms=2 Expression: - heart & brain - expressed in all brain regions - highest levels in the claustrum & thalamic nuclei [3]
