dermatitis of the nasal vestibule Etiology: - Staphlococcus aureus Clinical manifestations: - acute vestibulitis - nasal vestibule is red, swollen & tender - chronic vestibulitis - induration of vestibular skin with crusting Complications: - cavernous sinus infection Management: - cleaning the nasal vestibule of all crusts with a cotton applicator soaked in hydrogen peroxide - glucocorticoid-antibiotic combination ointment is sometimes helpful - chronic fissures are treated by cautery.
