Epidemiology: 1) infection acquired by ingesting raw or inadequately cooked or smoked salmon or trout containing infectious metacercariae 2) distribution: Pacific northwest, far eastern Siberia Clinical manifestations: 1) occurrence of symptoms is related to the number of worms 2) abdominal pain 3) diarrhea Laboratory: 1) eosinophilia may be present 2) diagnosis is made by finding eggs in feces a) ovoid, operculate yellowish-brown eggs b) 60-80 by 34-50 um Management: -> praziquantel 20 mg/kg TID for 1 day
