Function: 1) N-acetylneuraminic acid biosynthesis 2) catalyzes interconversion of N-acetylglucosamine to N-acetylmannosamine 3) binds to renin forming a protein complex called HMW renin & inhibits renin activity N-acyl-D-glucosamine N-acyl-D-mannosamine.
