striated muscle fiber development (GO:0048740)

OBSOLETE. The process whose specific outcome is the amplification and progression of myoblasts (muscle precursor cells) into terminally differentiated multinucleated muscle fibers. Notes: - This term was made obsolete because it was an unnecessary grouping term. Striated muscle comprises skeletal and cardiac muscle, but GO has opted not to group the muscle fiber development terms.
