Function: - unconventional myosin - regulates Rho activity in neurons - role in the regulation of neuronal morphology & function (putative) Structure: - contains 5 IQ domains - contains 2 myosin head-like domains - contains 2 phorbol-ester/DAG-type Zn+2 fingers - contains 1 Ras-associating domain - contains 1 Rho-GAP domain - lacks the ATP-binding domain which suggests that it cannot interact with actin Compartment: membrane (putative) Alternative splicing: named isoforms=5 Expression: - expressed in testis & placenta, & at lower levels in all tissues examined tissues except liver - isoform 5 was found in leukocytes but not in brain, retina or testis Pathology: candidate gene for the Bardet-Biedl syndrome
