nystatin/triamcinolone (Mycolog II, Mycogen II, Tri-Statin II)

Indications: cutaneous candidiasis with pruritus Contraindications: pregnancy-category C safety in lactation ? Dosage: - Apply cream/ointment BID. Cream: Nystatin 100,00 units/gram, triamcinolone 0.1% 15, 30, 60 g. Ointment: Nystatin 100,00 units/gram, triamcinolone 0.1% 15, 30, 60, 120* g. * ref [1] Adverse effects: - not common (1-10%) - dryness, folliculitis, hypertrichosis, acne, hypopigmentation, allergic dermatitis, maceration of the skin, skin atrophy, burning, itching, irritation, secondary infection Mechanism of action: 1) corticosteroid 2) binding of fungal sterols resulting in altered fungus cell wall permeability
