- stimulation of the semicircular canals during motion
Clinical manifestations:
1) pallor
2) nausea/vomiting
3) weakness
4) malaise
Management:
1) anticholinergic agents (before travel)
a) scopolamine (Transderm Scop, Hyoscine)
b) diphenhydramine (Benadryl)
c) hydroxyzine (Atarax, Vistaril)
d) meclizine (Antivert)
e) prochlorperazine (Compazine)
f) promethazine (Phenergan)
2) acetazolamide (Diamox) for high-altitude motion sickness
