mixed hearing loss
Etiology:
- new onset conductive hearing loss in patients with sensorineural hearing loss
- cerumen impactation or middle ear infection in elderly patient with presbycusis
Special laboratory:
- audiography
- air & bone conducted hearing diminished
- air conduction significantly less than bone conduction
Management:
- treat reversible causes
- referral to otolaryngologist as needed
