1-2 mm, superficial, white to yellow, keratin-containing epidermal cyst.
Etiology:
1) arise from pluripotential cells in epidermal or adnexal epithelium
2) may occur de novo especially around eye
3) may occur in association with dermatoses, bullae or vesicles
a) bullous pemphigoid
b) porphyria cutanea tarda
c) bullous lichen planus
d) epidermolysis bullosa
4) miliaria
5) may occur in association with trauma
a) abrasions
b) burns
c) radiation therapy
Clinical manifestations:
1) multiply occuring 1-2 mm, superficial, white to yellow cysts
2) distribution:
a) eyelids
b) cheeks
c) forehead in pilosebaceous follicles
d) sites of trauma
3) milia may occur at any age
Management: excision & expression of contents
