1) diabetic nephropathy
2) diabetic retinopathy
3) diabetic neuropathy
Genetics:
- associated with mutations in PON1
Laboratory:
- PON1 gene mutation
Management:
- management
- diabetic nephropathy
- ACE inhibitor or ARB
- additional agents as needed to control blood pressure
- diuretic, calcium channel blocker, beta blocker
- screening
- diabetic nephropathy
- annual serum creatinine with estimated GRR
- diabetic retinopathy
- ophthalmoscopy at the time of diagnosis for type 2 diabetes & within 5 years of diagnosis for type 1 diabetes & every 1-3 uthereafter
- diabetic neuropathy
- monofilament examination of feet annually
